CORE Services

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire funds a range of support services for victims of crime who reside in the county. These CORE services include support for general victims, young people, domestic abuse victims, and sexual assault victims. In addition to these services, there is also dedicated support for victims of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and a restorative justice support service.

General Victim and Youth Services

Derbyshire Victim Services provides general victim services to those affected by crime in the Derbyshire area. Derbyshire Victim Services are ran by the independent charity RemediRemedi have a local team of dedicated workers in the county that are supported by volunteers. They are here to help anyone who has been a victim of crime. It doesn’t matter whether or not it has been reported to the police irrespective of when the crime occurred. If you have been affected in any way then these services are here for you. Remedi work closely with a wide range of local service providers across the county and can help you access these services.

Remedi also provide a targeted support service for young people who have been a victim of crime. Young people aged up to 18 will be able to access specialist support through the gotyourback website or the main contact number found above.

In order to give the best possible service, we need to know if something has gone wrong so it can be put right and avoid future reoccurrences.

Restorative Justice Services

Remedi provide victim initiated Restorative Justice services to those affected by crime in the Derbyshire area. Specially trained officers deliver Restorative Justice across a range of offence types, both before and after court. Victims of crime are offered the opportunity to meet with the person responsible for committing the offence against them. Involvement in Restorative Justice can also involve indirect exchanges of communication, where a trained officer will communicate between victim and perpetrator without them physically meeting. Engagement in Restorative Justice is completely voluntary and participant led.

They deliver bespoke support and interventions to children and young people to build resilience and aspiration, empowering them to take control of their lives and supporting them to stay safe.


Domestic Abuse Services

Refuge provide services to people experiencing domestic abuse in Derby city. The service provides free confidential, non-judgemental and independent support and advice for both men and women living in Derby City. Referrals to this service can be made by yourself, friends or family and professionals as long as they have your consent. Refuge also offer refuge, outreach and resettlement support to women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, stalking, honour based violence, trafficking, forced marriage and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

Derbyshire Domestic Abuse services provide services to people experiencing domestic abuse in the county council area of Derbyshire. This organisation provides a personalised support service which can help with safety plans, the court process, refuges, counselling, and assigning Independent Domestic Violence Advisor's (IDVA's) wherever appropriate. Derbyshire Domestic Abuse services can also provide information on local advice centres and helplines.


Rape and Sexual Violence Services

SV2 provide services to victims of any type of sexual violence who reside in Derbyshire, all genders.  SV2 offers a wide range of support including Counselling, a 24/7 advice line, emotional support, and an Independent Sexual Violence Advocacy service (ISVA) for Adult survivors, children and families. The service can also provide support at forensic medical examinations for those aged 16 years and above.

SV2 have been supporting victims of sexual violence in Derbyshire since 1978 and were previously called Derbyshire Rape Crisis.

The organisation can provide emotional, practical and independent advice to anyone that has been effected by sexual violence either recently or non-recent. They can support you if are not going to report, if you have reported the incident to the police or are thinking about reporting and will support you through the criminal justice process.

They offer a non-judgemental service, whatever your circumstances, and have strict confidentiality policies in place. SV2 have a dedicated team of CORE Support Workers who can support you on the telephone or in person. 

Referrals into the service can be made by yourself, your friends, family or professionals with your consent. 

SV2 do not work with perpetrators of sexual violence.
